should I buy a D40 Digital SLR 2 Lens Camera Outfit w/18-55mm ED II DX AF-S & 55-200mm ED DX AF-S Lenses -52mm- or a
Nikon D-50 6.0MP Digital SLR Camera with a 28-80mm LENS and 70-300mm LENS? do i need to buy a flash too? the later deal is second hand and is on ebay and it says it's like new. the first deal is brand new. both of the cameras have two lenses.

I'm a big fan of the D50, particularly because it will take more Nikon autofocus lenses than the D40 and autofocus with them. That said, between these two outfits ONLY, I would take the new D40 with the two lens outfit. Why?
1) you get a warranty
2) you get a wider standard lens
3) the lenses with the D50 are not outstanding; you can later on buy a 70-300mm Nikon for just over $140 if you really want one, although I don't think it'll autofocus on you D40.
4) The lenses that do come with the D40 are decent enough lenses, although I would prefer the VR version of the 55-200mm lens. At least, they'll AF with the D40.
