What am I doing wrong with Windows Movie Maker? (READ DETAILS)?

My camera automatically uploads videos onto my computer in quicktime player format. This doesn't work on movie maker so I downloaded Prism Video Converter. After converting my video to .avi, I tried importing the new video and received this message; "...could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box."
What am I doing wrong? Please try to word this simply, because I do not know a lot about video files or Windows Movie Maker.

you MUST convert the file to WMV or the moviemaker wont take it. if your converter doesn't do it try (any video converter) which converts into this format and many others. you can get this converter at www.download.com.
