Black & white prints with color film in darkroom?

If I get 35mm color film and work with it in the darkroom would I get black and white prints? I just started a photos class...I don't know how EXACTLY the enlarger works. I just need black and white prints but I can't find black and white film anywhere! I can get it from my photo's teacher but I swear she's ripping us off...

Yes you can get B&W photos from color negs. however, the contrast is not the same, just figure out the paper is blind to red color.
There is a paper specially to make B&W prints from color negatives, it is Panalure (I do not know if Kodak still make it); this paper is panchromatic, in other words is sensitive to all the colors, even the red.
But if you do not mined the poor contrast, try the regular one.
