Plastic Products: - In the last few decades, plastic industry has grown to become India's one of the leading sectors with a sizable base. Since 1957, which witnessed a promising beginning with the production of polystyrene, plastic products have gained notable importance in different spheres of activity with an ever increasing per capita consumption. With continuous advancements and developments in polymer technology, processing machineries, and cost effective manufacturing, plastic is fast replacing the typical materials in different segments.
The Industry:- On the basis of our study, following are some of the notable facts:
- India's plastic industry is about 0.5% of India's GDP.
- The export of plastic products yields about 1% of the domestic exports.
- 50% turnover of the plastic industry is derived from the small scale companies where it has a large presence
- Production of the plastic provides employment to an estimate of about 0.4 million people in the country
- The processing of the plastic products involve approximately Rs 100 billion as an investment in the form of fixed assets
- 20% of the industry turnover comes from small scale enterprises
- Only 10 to 15% of the total market players can be categorized as medium scale enterprises
Type Of Plastic Products:-
Some of the major plastic products manufactured and exported from India can be categorized under the following headings:-
Raw Materials like PVC, polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene etc.
Packaging Materials like a range of plastic sheeting and films, pouches,
crates, bottles, containers, barrels, cans etc
Films like Polyester film, multilayer films, photo films etc
Consumer Goods like toothbrushes, cleaning brushes, hair brushes, nail
and cosmetic brushes, combs, molded furniture (chairs,
tables, etc.) House ware, kitchenware, and many such
other durables.
Writing Instruments like Pens, ball pens, markers, sign pens, refills, etc.
Travel ware like molded luggage, soft luggage, a range of bags like school
bags / ladies handbags, wallets, etc.
Water Storage Tanks Toys and Games Engineering Plastics
Electrical Accessories
Safety helmets
Sanitary Fittings
Construction Materials like PVC profiles, doors, windows, etc.
An Overview:-
The Indian plastic industry is growing at a fast pace. However, with an increasing economical liberalization competition in this industry is expected to increase considerably. To survive the growing competition, the following adjustments need to be adopted by our manufacturers and suppliers:
- Cost reduction by adopting more radical methods and approaches
- Putting more stress on the processing stage to reduce time and cost associated with the manufacturing of the final products
Although, the per capita consumption of plastic products in India is well below the world average, the country will continue to be one of the largest sources of plastic products.

Underwater Horror, and I’m Not Talking Fish Tanks Pt. 1
The underwater horror genre is often one of the most terrifying because the situations and terror often come from being trapped in a small confined space underwater as well as the fear of being cast out into the dark, forbidding depths. Man has always been fearful of the water due to our inability to survive for long in it and our incapacity to breath on our own underwater. There will always be something mysterious and frightening about the dark, menacing depths of the ocean and the strange untouched and never before seen terrors that lurk in the darkness. Here is a list of movies that deal with the horror of the underwater and may just make you think twice about that scuba diving trip or fish tank purchase.
Leviathan
An undersea mining goes horribly awry when the group of minors find a safe from the former crew of a Russian ship in the deep sea. The crew find a flask of vodka, and after two crew members share the drink they become horribly sick. One of the crew members dies and the other one slowly begins to mutate. The mutated bodies come together to form a horrible creature that begins to murder the surviving crew one by one. As each member dies it begins to mutate and forms with the monster that gets bigger and stronger. The movies is an OK take on the sort of close-quarters alien survival movies like “the Thing” and “Alien” but the special effects and horror aren’t done as well as they could have been. It’s a decent little late 80s horror movie to check out if you are into deep sea horror.
The Abyss
James Cameron’s epic science fiction horror film finds the crew of a new, experimental submersion machine investigating a mysterious submarine crash that may have been caused by an alien species unknown to man. As is common in many of these claustrophobic underwater films, there is a member of the crew that becomes increasingly paranoid and violence, making the human element often more dangerous and terrifying than the alien element. The film was a large budget and difficult production with the crew spending days in a giant seven million gallon water tank for filming. Much of the underwater filming was also done in the largest underground lake in the world located in a mine in Bonne Terre, Missouri.

What is this black film all over my freshwater tank?
I had an algae bloom a few weeks ago so I used Tetra Algae Control. It killed the algae but now there's a black film that's covering the walls and rocks in my tank. It looks horrible. I've scrubbed it off 3 times but it keeps coming back. I did a water change but it still keeps coming back. I haven't had any fish die but I can't stand looking at it. What can I do?
I'm guessing the formula is still active and while the algae is attempting to grow its only getting so far before being killed of again. It could be the formula will only work on algae of a certain maturity.
Leave the lights off for a few days and stop feeding to see if that alleviates the problem if it doesn't It could well be a different type of algae that's replaced the normal stuff you've killed off.
