When I look back to my own childhood and I remember my dad getting me my first BB gun rifle for my birthday, I was so excited. Make no mistake, these guns can cause a lot of damage and can shoot a BB for long distances.

If you look at the CO2 version of the Airsoft pistol, you can see that this guns packs quite a punch and shoots that BB through the air with a very high velocity. If you were to be so unlucky as to be in front of one of those when it went off, you would be rushed to the hospital immediately. There are also less formidable BB guns that Airsoft makes and they are all made to be enjoyed as sporting events like the paintball events. Is it illegal to paint the flash hider on an airsoft gun?

Is it illegal if I spray spaint the orange flash hider on my airsoft gun black but keep an orange ring on the front of it so its still visible but not to the user of the gun? (Unless your aiming at yourself)

It is not illegal, but it is is HIGHLY NOT ADVISED. The law is flawed, as all the flame orange tip protect is when the rifle is in transit from China to the US, still in transit. It is illegal to ship a airsoft without a flame orange tip, and the size is 1/4 inch around all the way. As having had an incident with the police, I am sure the FULL visible flame orange tip saved my life. I don't think the police have time to analyze whether you have a real gun or not. I would rather risk being hit with a 6mm plastic pellet where you respawn than a 9mm bullet moving in excess of 1600fps where you don't respwan. It's GAME OVER!
