Knowing how to restrict a USB flash drive to a virtual machine operation can be highly useful and help your applications to be more secure.
A virtual machine is essentially a software program that imitates a hardware program. According to the Computer Desktop Encyclopaedia, this is a "traditional virtualization technique that enables different operating systems to run in the same computer as well as to prevent applications from interfering with each other. Each virtual machine is like a 'machine within the machine and functions as if it owned the entire computer. The operating systems in each virtual machine communicate with the hardware via an abstraction layer called a 'virtual machine monitor' (VMM) or 'hypervisor'. The operating systems run without modification unless they use the para-virtualization method."
- Virtual machines are very useful for these three applications:Eliminating the need for a whole new computer to run an application that requires a foreign OS.
- Running development and production programs at the same time so that if the program under development crashes production is not interfered with.
- Using multiple production virtual machines to protect against interference or corruption from the simultaneous running of allegedly safe and secure commercial applications without the need to run multiple servers.
Restricting a USB flash drive so that it is used as a virtual machine is an ideal way of using a flash memory drive. You would first want to partition your USB flash memory drive so that you can simultaneously run two different applications: one is a software writing application and the other is an already existing application. Once you have your USB flash memory drive partitioned, you can then apply it as a virtual machine for all three of a virtual machine's main functions. This is especially useful if you are a computer tech. If you are trying to troubleshoot a computer that would require you to access a foreign OS the flash drive can be made use of. If you need to make use of code, that writing program may crash frequently, but that won't affect your other running program. And, you can rest assured that your flash drive's data won't be corrupted by any corrupted data on the computer.
Another great point to keep in mind about using your flash memory drive in this way is that this creates a synchronous operating of multiple operating systems; this is not a mere multiboot or dual-boot system that you effect.
As databases grow and more applications with more diverse operating systems are developed, the use of virtual machines is likely to become ever more important and widespread, and the USB flash memory drive, with its data compression and portability, will likely grow ever more useful as a facilitator for the easy creation of a virtual machine environment. Knowing how to restrict a USB flash drive to a virtual machine operation enables you to access multiple "streams of consciousness" at once without fear of them causing each other to crash or be corrupted.

"What is 'Flash'? Is that the same as 'Adobe Flash'?"

Question: "What is 'Flash'? Is that the same as 'Adobe Flash'?"
Answer: Flash was formerly called "Macromedia Flash", but is now relabeled as "Adobe Flash" since Adobe purchased Macromedia software in 2005.

Flash is streaming animation for web pages. Sometimes Flash is a portion of an html web page, and sometimes a web page is made entirely of Flash. Either way, Flash files are called "Flash movies". These are special .swf format files that beam to your web browser screen as you watch them.
Flash requires a special free plugin (modification) to your browser before you can view Flash movies.
Flash movies offer two very special web browsing experiences: very fast loading, and vector animation with interactivity:
-
Flash benefit #1: very fast loading to your screen
Unlike file attachments in email, which you must wait to fully download before viewing, Flash movies start playing as the content is transmitted to you. While the Flash movie may be 6 megabytes large, you can start to watch the animation within moments, while the rest "streams" to your screen in the background. This makes Flash very desirable for web publishers, as it opens creative doors for them to make very powerful animations for their readers. -
Flash benefit #2: vector graphic animation
"Vector graphics" are different from "raster graphics" (jpg, gif, png, bmp graphics). Vector graphics use math formulas to draw animation shapes, while raster graphics save millions of tiny colored dots to draw photos. This difference allows vector graphics to be very small file size, and very crisp at any resized format. For these two benefits, Flash designers use vector graphics to make powerful web page visuals that load to your screen very quickly and crisply. There are three downsides to Flash animation:
-
Downside #1: Some organizations block Flash movies from being received through the Internet. While this is partly motivated by fears of Flash viruses and Flash hackers, the greater motivation is disciplining staff. Many managers of private companies do not want their employees playing Flash games at their office computers, so they will ban Flash movies at work through technical blockers on the network. Do not be surprised if your employer chooses to implement a ban of Flash at your office.
-
Downside #2: Not everyone has the required Flash Player plugin. Because they do not like "blinking things" on their screens, some users choose to disable or not install Flash Player.
-
Downside #3: Flash .swf movies can be very time consuming to edit. It is very laborious work to change a Flash web page quickly. For this reason, you will almost never see a dynamic content page like a news site utilizing Flash for its rapidly-changing content. Instead, Flash is used more for decorative purposes, and for advertising and online gaming purposes.

Flash - does anybody know how to make a movie clip play ONLY when 2 (or more) buttons are pressed?
I am searching for a tutorial (or advice) on how to make a movie clip play when I press two (or more) buttons (not keyboard, but flash buttons").I want the clip to play only when both buttons are pressed and not just one separately! Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance !
Sure... just set up some flags of when the buttons are pressed. Default them to 0, when the button is pressed, first set the variable (for that button) to 1 and do a check to see if the variable (for the other button) is also 1. If it is, play the movie, if it isn't, do nothing.
