They will absolutely not tell prices over the phone and I don't want to drive there if its going to be more than i have.

An afterthought... if you´ve taken anywhere near 50.000 shots with that camera, you might want to just upgrade. That´s what the shutter of the XT is rated for, and repairing the shutter will cost another $200. (The shutter CAN last much longer, of course, but it´s not built to.)
