Can you change a format type on iTunes?

I downloaded music from a video game for my dad, and it saved on iTunes as a 'Quicktime Movie File'. I tried to sync it to my iPod, but it said it was unable to do that because it was not in an iPod format. What do I do to make it so I can put it on my iPod? Thanks and merry Christmas!
I have a Mac, iTunes 8, and trying to do this to a video iPod. It's music, but for some reason it saved as QuickTime.
