What kind of case: silicone or hard plastic?

So I bought a 2nd generation iPod touch and I want to get a case for it. I wanted a hard case with a design on it to protect it if I dropped it or something and to make it pretty, but the ones I found werent that pretty. On the other hand a silicone case is very thin and convienient and still prevents it from getting scratched but wont protect it if I drop it. Any suggestions?

Why don't you go down both avenues and try both? Silicone cases are sometimes durable, but could stain with inks or dyes. They are also easier to grip in case you happen to be the type that breaks everything they touch, hehe.

Hard cases, like silicone ones, also protect well. But they're bulky and could slip from your hand. However, it's still great protection and just as durable as silicone.
