Should I wax my unpainted fiber glass hood?

I recently bought a used car and am planning on waxing it. I'm worried though because the car has a fiber glass hood that is black but not the same glossy black as the rest of the car. I do like the shade of black though and don't want to paint it to match the rest of the car. I'm wondering if waxing the hood will make it shiny like carbon fiber hoods.
