What are the best digital cameras for kids? There is no simple answer to that question. What digital camera is best depends on a number of factors. First, it would depend on the child's age and on how responsible the child is. Second, it would depend on the child's previous experience with photography and on how serious the child is about his or her hobby. Third, it would depend on how the child intended to use the camera i.e. will he or she simply view the pictures on the camera or on a computer or will he or she have prints made.
What are the best digital cameras for kids? If the child is young and is still somewhat irresponsible, the right camera would be an entry-level camera. With the cost of technology dropping everyday, there are real digital cameras available today for less than 20 dollars. A major retail drug store chain recently started selling a mini digital camera for 10 dollars. This is not a toy camera or one that has to be recycled but a real digital camera with an excellent f 2.2 lenses and an internal memory of 16MB, enough memory to store up to 246 pictures. This camera is small enough and light enough to be worn on a chain around the neck like a large locket.
What are the best digital cameras for a child? If the child is responsible enough to take proper care of a camera, he or she may be ready for a mid entry-level point and shoot digital camera like the Kodak Easy Share C763. The C763 with its 7-mega pixel resolution, multiple shooting modes, electronic picture stabilization, and picture enhancement features is a camera that any budding photographer can get his or her teeth in and grow with. The Easy Share software that comes with the camera will also introduce the child to the joys of editing and printing his or her own pictures as well as sharing them with his or her friends with online photo albums and via email.
What are the best digital cameras for a child? If the child is an older child with some experience using film cameras, he or she may be ready for an entry-level DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera. Digital SLRs will give the budding photographer a taste of what the real world of photography is really like. With the ability to change lenses, use filters, external flash units, remote shutter releases, and a wide range of other camera accuracies, a good DSLR is a lifetime investment.
No matter what age or experience level of the child, no matter what type of digital camera the child receives, digital cameras for kids gives the child the ability to see the results of his or her picture taking excursions right away will spur them on to further develop their photography skills. From the parent's perspective, the initial investment in a digital camera may appear high but what they will save in purchasing film for their child's old camera and later paying out even more money to have it processed will make it a good investment.

EZ Flash Vi has bypassed the DSi 1.4 firmware
EZ Flash Vi has bypassed the DSi 1.4 firmware – www.xpertron.co.uk
The EZ Team has launched a video on the 9th August 2009 to demonstrate how the EZ Flash Vi can bypass the DSi firmware version v1.4 with ease. The process is based on the existing EZ Flash Vi flashcart, i.e. there is no need to buy a new one. That is in contrast with a R4i Gold whose flashcarts manufactured before 10th August do not work wtih DSi firmware version v1.4. Unlike M3i and Supercard DSONEi, EZ Flash Vi does not require an external firmware writer to update the core firmware on the flashcart. What is required is simply updating the firmware using the EZ Flash Vi flashcart and a microSD.
The following are needed for upgrading the lates EZ Flash Vi firmware for the DSi :
- DSi console
- EZ Flash Vi card
- MicroSD memory card
- DS Lite console (if you DSi has been upgraded to version 1.4)
The whole process of bypassing the DSi firmware version v 1.4 takes about 45 seconds. Essentially, the whole process only involves one step: run the EZ Flash Vi cart firmware update on the DS Lite or DSi console.
So what is DSi firmware version 1.4 for?
While reviewing pictures they've stored in the Nintendo DSi Camera album, which includes photos taken by users and manipulated using the built-in interactive lenses, users can simply tap the Facebook icon on the system's touch screen to instantly transmit photos to the user's Facebook profile. The user's system must be configured to a wireless broadband Internet connection for the transmission of photos.

Any recommendations for a flash to mount on my Sony A200?
I need a flash that I can point up, and I know of course I could get a Sony but I see other brands as well that are less expensive. I didn't know which brands are reputable and if you lose quality when it comes to a flash. Do Nikon/Canon/Sony all have different flash mounts like with lenses?
Check the Sony web site and see if they list Minolta Maxxum flash units that would be compatible. The newer Konica-Minolta flash units for the D5 & D7 DSLR cameras should be compatible. I know that after Sony acquired Konica-Minolta they re-badged at least 1 flash unit - the Minolta 3600HS(D).
You might want to check a couple of user groups I found:

IMO you'd be better off paying a little extra for a dedicated Sony flash unit rather than an after-market unit that depends on a "dedicated module" to achieve compatibility.
