The Esperanza Forest is, without doubt, one of Tenerife's most picturesque areas, a vast pine forest stretching for many miles. From certain points in the road rising up through the forest you can experience tremendous views over the tree-tops all the way to the distant volcano Mount Teide. When it is cloudy you can see the action of the pine trees in reclaiming moisture from the atmosphere, which they channel down into large underground reservoirs from which the island derives most of its water. Look closely and you will notice the water-laden pine needles glistening as they sway in the breeze.
Masca, in the west of Tenerife, is a great place for those who like tranquility mixed with fantastic views. A former pirate village hidden deep in the Teno mountains, it was previously accessible only by sea or by mule until the road was built in the 1960's (and what a road it is - certainly not for the faint-hearted driver!). Have a beer or some home-made lemonade in one of the quiant restaurants and soak up the atmosphere of the place. If you walk down to the bottom of the village, look closely at the dry stone walls and you will see that they are inhabited by numerous little lizards - they are completely harmless and really cute in a lizardy sort of way. From Masca you can participate in a guided three hour walk from the village through the deep gorges which lead to the tiny Masca bay on the coast, previously the pirates' unloading and disembarking point. From here you can be picked up by boat (arrange it first - it's not like a bus stop!) and taken to the nearby port of Los Gigantes.
Lunar Landscape. Yes it's true, Tenerife can even offer you a bizarre landscape more like that which you might expect to find on the moon. But only if you're prepared for the journey to get there. So to the lazy traveller; don't read on - just look at the photos! Still with us? Good. So where is it and how to get there? Well, first you have to take the Teide route from Los Cristianos and travel inland and up until you come to Vilaflor (highest town in Spain and also worth a look). A couple of kilometres beyond Vilaflor you turn right at the sign for 'Lomo Blanco' (easy to miss), which in fact is just a dirt road cut through the multi-coloured rocks. After a slow 30 minute drive you'll see a sign marked 'Paisaje Lunar'. From here it's by foot for the rest of the journey - a walk of approx 45 minutes through the well-marked forest footpath. There's nothing to disturb you but the buzz of insects, swaying of pine trees, scampering of lizards and the sun beating down on your back. A terrific way to spend half a day. (Do bear in mind that some car rental agencies stipulate that hire cars are not insured on non-asphalted roads.)

What is the best Lomo camera?
I have been using a Canon 400D SLR for about two years now, I know my way around digital cameras, and I also used a manual Vivitar for a while, so i'm not a total beginner
I want to try Lomo, as in, real Lomo, i've always used Photoshop to get the effect before but I want an actual Lomo film camera
I've had a look at some Diana +, Holgas and some others, but I don't know what is best really.
What brand would you recommend? A fisheye, or regular lens? With or without colour filters?
I just need some advice as i'm new to Lomo and a bit overwhelmed by the different options...
Thankyou.
Decide if you want to shoot 120 film or 35mm film. Since you have shot with film before, you have an idea of the difficulties and ins and outs of working with film.
120 film is a little more difficult to deal with than 35mm film, since there are fewer labs that can process it. Ask around at your local Walmart, Costco or other 1-hour labs. While they may not be able to process the film on site, many of these labs will send the film out to be processed for you.
The next option is to find a local pro-lab. These are labs that specifically cater to professional photographers and will be able to process your film on site. As you might imagine, it can be a little pricey.
Another film processing option is to send out the film to be processed. Check out these processors, they both offer processing by mail:

http://www.swanphotolabs.com/swan08/index.php
Then the best of all option, process the film yourself. BW film processing and even color processing are not too difficult to learn and also not very expensive to get into.
If you want to shoot 120 film, consider the Holga 120N. This is an inexpensive entry into plastic cameras, and I think it's photos are equal to those of the more expensive Diana+. The Diana+ has more options and settings, making it a more flexible camera, but if you want to see if this is what you want, it will only cost you $28US to check it out.
If you think that 120 film is too much trouble, you can try a 35mm camera, like the Holga 135BC or Lomography Black Slim Devil. Both of these cameras will produce photos in the toy camera milieu and you can also purchase accessory fish eye lenses to go with them. The nice thing about 35mm film, is that it is fairly easy to find a lab to process your film, and it is cheaper per frame than the 120 film cameras.
The Holga 120N, 35mm Holga 135BC or Black Slim Devil can be found at Freestyle Photo supply:
http://freestylephoto.biz/
The Diana+ cameras can be found at some stores like Urban Outfitters, or online at http://lomography.com
Whichever camera you choose, remember that the point of lo-fi photography is to have fun and don't sweat the details!

I was thinking the other day about which London restaurants would make it in the hothouse that is the New York restaurant scene. To be honest it was a bit of a dispiriting exercise.
