Is it a good idea to buy Magic cards in lots from eBay?

I see a LOT of good deals out there (ie, 600-card lot for $20 w/free shipping) but the saying is that if it's too good to be true, it probably is. I just wonder if this is a common way for experienced players to ditch their lousy cards or if there is authentically a good deal of churn of even good cards as strategies change.

If you are new to the game, then the deals are good as you will probably get a good assortment of commons and uncommons and bad rares (of course, I like playing with bad rares as I like to see if I can build decks around them and make them work). Don't be looking for the chase rares though as those will be put in seperate auctions.

If you are an older player or if you already have a lot of cards, then don't get these. Just bid on the singles.

These lots are just people with a whole bunch of commons and uncommons that they don't want and are just trying to get rid of them. They don't really put anything worthwhile in them. Expect to see a lot of duplicates and land (unless they say "No Duplicates or Land").
