As human beings we are blessed with a sense of appreciation for ascetic beauty. We have a natural inclination to awe at the wonders of the colorful world around us. Unfortunately, in this day and age, that instinct can be suppressed to the point that we hardly realize we have it. That is until some incredible sight hits us right in the face - a clear sunset of oranges, reds and purples - a view of miles of coastline from a high cliff - a look straight up a massive tree from underneath - or a sparkling silver waterfall. It is a natural stress relief to breath in the beauty and sound or silence of these sights.

Waterfalls have a unique ability to take our breath away. There is something inspiring about them - the way water transitions in shape and form from a smooth soft surface to a thundering crash, the massive amount of force and weight, the sparkle of the sun and the rainbows in the mist. From the small creek drops to the towering cliff falls, all of the innumerable types of waterfalls have a way of gripping our interest. A diamond in the rough of waterfalls is the Columbia River Gorge in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The Oregon side alone boasts 77 amazing falls. More specifically the Historic Columbia River Highway is arguably one of the most beautiful waterfall areas in the world.

Some of the well known falls you've seen on post cards are Multnomah Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horsetail Falls. Not to take away from their glory, because truly they are magnificent, but these, my friend, are just the beginning. You can easily get a day's fill of waterfall sights by simply driving from fall to fall along the Historic Columbia River Highway. The view from the Vista House on this highway is extraordinary, especially at sunset.

However, to really grasp a true sense of the value and beauty of this area, I suggest taking one of the numerous hikes in the area. Whatever distance and height you are willing to climb, there is a trail out there for you, and most of them are lined with waterfalls. A personal favorite of mine is the Wahkeena Falls loop, a 4.8 mile loop that takes you by 10 different waterfalls, including Multnomah Falls. If you don't feel comfortable tackling some of these endeavors on your own, or just want someone to show you some of the beautiful sights that are harder to find, there are great adventure tours provided by locals who share an appreciation for the majesty of the Pacific Northwest and it's wonderfall waterfalls.

The wonderful thing is that in all your time you couldn't exhaust the Columbia River Gorge of all it has to offer. There is always something more to be explored, or something extra to be caught the second, third, or sixth time through. Hundreds of miles of hiking and waterfalls make the Columbia River Gorge a must see on any persons list of places to visit.

Is a Canon HF20 camcorder refurbished with a 3 year Mack waranty a good deal?

I purchased a refurbised canon HF20 from an authorized reseller on ebay fro $499. I also got the additional $54 Mack 3 year Diamond warranty which includes accidental damage. Does this sound like a better deal then getting a new one which would run close to $700 for only a one year warranty from Canon?

It all depends on your budget and if you are okay with purchasing refurbished items. I tend to buy new electronics and take good care of them. I make sure they work like they are supposed to and would deal with any warranty issues should something come up. I have been very pleased with my Canon products and never had a warranty problem.

I don't know anything about the Diamond warranty but if it's all good then you should be fine. I found a new FH20 for $649.00 (see link) so you still saved $100.
