if you play bass clarinet, do you prefer using the peg or neck strap?

i use neck strap for band because our school's bass clarinet doesn't even have a place for a peg, but when I use mine, I always use the peg.

I only strap the alto. I peg the bass, contra-alto, and contra-bass.

The reason is that pegging the instrument keeps it in the proper playing position better than strapping it. I find (just me) that strapping it tends to bring the bell in under the chair while leaning the neck forward. Pegging it makes me keep it in the correct position.

The alto and basset horn are exceptions because they don't weigh as much and because they are so much shorter.
