The Nikon Coolpix L100 camera is powered by a easy to use button on the top. At the top-front of hand-grip, the shutter-release is surrounded by the zoom-controller. The camera is comfortable to hold. It is not too heavy and it has a big screen. The button controls are easy accessible, and the transfer of pictures to your computer is very easy. Even if the camera looks almost like an SLR camera, do not expect the photos to be the same quality as it would be taken with an SLR camera. The 10x optical zoom is very good, and the Nikon Coolpix L100 also provides video recording.

I wish it had more manual modes though, like the ability to change focal length, shutter speed and the ISO. It is a very easy camera to use, even if you are totally unexperienced taking photos.

Though the camera lacks an optical viewfinder, the large LCD makes it easy to compose photos. For the more advanced photographer more manual options would be preferable, but less experienced photographers will enjoy a model that does all the work for them. The L100 is designed for this group of photographers.

In my opinion this Nikon L100 would be a great choice for a child or teen who wants to learn using a camera. There are better cameras available if you want a camera that will work in poor lit situations. Even if it's flash is quite strong, you will tend to get color casts and slight grain issues in your evening pictures. The camera's built-in flash must be manually raised, it does not have a release button. You have to access the flash manually, but this is actually a plus, since it means the flash won't fire inadvertently in places where use of flash is prohibited.

Overall this is a good digital camera. It is perfect for a child or beginner.

Nikon SB800 flash light attachment to add?

I need to add a diffuser or soft box onto my Nikon SB800 flash light to eliminate harsh shadows or to even up the light, can someone recommend? You help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
