Olympus E-520, Dslr Camera With 10mp

There is 7 increase in features and performance of E-520 compared to preceding, E-510. How do I get the flash to fire on an Olympus C- 725?

When I pop the flash up and press the shutter the flash doesn't fire. I can hear the auto focus moving the lens but the camera doesn't take a picture. I see a red lightning bolt symbol on the LCD but my manual doesn't say anything about it. The camera takes pictures just fine as long as I don't try to use the flash. Can someone help?

See page 126 of the reference manual for possible corrective actions - most likely, the camera is set to a certain mode (such as auto-bracketing) that prevented the flash from firing.
