It always happens at the most inopportune time and generally when you are in a hurry. You get into your vehicle and turn the ignition switch to start and nothing happens, or maybe the engine turns over very slowly, or you might only hear some clicking noises.

I will give you several ways to get yourself out of this situation. If you have a set of jumper cables in your vehicle then you will need a Good Samaritan with a good battery to give you a jump start. You can accomplish this safely by following this procedure.

1. Make sure that the two vehicles do not touch each other as this will provide a ground source for current flow up to 400 amperes.
2. Engage the parking brake on each vehicle and put the transmission in neutral or park.
3. Turn off all accessories and the ignition switch on both vehicles.
4. Jumper cables generally have red clamps for the positive (+) terminals and black clamps for the negative (-) terminals. These terminals are usually marked on the battery with a plus and minus symbol.
5. Begin by attaching one end of the positive jumper cable to the positive terminal on the disabled car.
6. Connect the other end to the positive battery terminal of the booster vehicle.
7. Attach one end of the negative jumper cable to the negative terminal of the booster vehicle.
8. Make the final connection by attaching the other end of the negative cable to some good, accessible, metal part of the engine away from the battery so that any sparks created will not damage the battery or cause you injury.
9. When attaching the jumper cables make sure that the teeth on the clamps get a good bite on the terminals or the engine grounding location.
10. Start the booster vehicle and run the engine at a slightly faster speed than idle.
11. Attempt to start the disabled vehicle. If it does not readily start, turn off the ignition and wait for a couple of minutes for the booster vehicle to charge the dead battery. While waiting, recheck the clamps to make sure that they have a good connection.
12. Once the disabled vehicle is running disconnect the cables in the opposite sequence in which you attached them.

If you or someone else has a jump box, a portable, rechargeable battery device, you can use this by attaching the positive clamp to your battery and then attaching the negative clamp to a good engine ground as described above.

Heavy CPU and memory use all contribute to heat as well, hence my comment on multi-tasking above.

As far as I know there is nowhere you can purchase the piece you are speaking of. I suppose that technically you could try and make your own part but I don't know how you would actually go about doing that. If it's really bugging you I suppose you could purchase a replacement battery cover, but it's not necessary to operate the phone.
