I am writing an essay for my topic on "A dysfunctional family", and I do not know how to write it correctly. Can one help? I don't know the exact definitions of a thesis, and a tri-part argument. Also, I need help with the concluding paragraph.

A three part or "tri part" thesis is nothing more than three points under the topic a Dysfunctional family that you want to write about.

You have the topic now just ask yourself some questions about it.

What is a dysfunctional family (definition, psychological or sociological definition (s)???

What needs to take place or not happen for a family to be dysfunctional??

How can dysfunctional families be helped or be taught new ways to be non dysfunctional???

How many families are deemed dysfunctional or is it really the best definition of a family that cannot or will not stay or work together in harmony??

Are there any scholarly journals or cases where sociologists or psychologists or social workers have had to take on a dysfunctional family??

Anyway once you go dig up some reliable and valid or scholarly reviewed material just do a lot of reading up on the subject. Once you find some reliable sources your thesis or the three points you started out with might change but you can find three points to highlight and write about in the body of your essay.

Now once your intro, thesis and body of the essay is done guess what? The easiest part is the conclusion because in there you just summarize, paraphrase and restate the major points in your essay to wrap it up. Nothing new, just a wrap up of what you talked about or restating an argument if you went there.

So your intro with thesis or your "tri point" would go something like this and it is rough so proceed cautiously if you want to use it.

In today's society it seems that people are being pulled left and right by many forces to include work, family, outside peer pressures and stress caused by many factors. What may be often overlooked however is the source of much of one persons inability to cope with the outside world as their family is what is deemed as dysfunctional and little or no coping mechanisms are used or taught in ones initial and often main environment of learning which is the home. Dysfunction in families is a great cause for concern for what comes out of those families are dysfunctional people if the concern is not recognized and dealt with as a whole by social workers, psychologists and often sociologists alike. In order to cure or attempt a cure however when dealing with dysfunctional families one must first be able to recognize and correctly diagnose what a dysfunctional family is and this is often accomplished by recognizing the four roles within a dysfunctional family and more importantly the types and approaches to a cure.

So look at that last sentence and that is your thesis. You can see how those three points in the last sentence wrapped up the intro and is leading into the three main paragraphs of the body of your essay or the three points you are going to discuss.

Conclusion paragraph where you wrap all of that up in a nice summary and end it.
