Now that you understand a bit about light, you will have to do some figuring out for your own particular camera. The best way to do this is to get out your handy dandy manual and look up the directions, that should also have some graphics to help you. The other way is more common, and that is the finely tuned practice of finding the right settings by "hitting buttons until you find it." With cameras, this is trickier as they often are not labeled as clearly as the people using this method would like.
Once you figure out all that:
- You want the camera set on manual exposure or for the simpler cameras, set it to "night mode."
- Then you need to set the lens to its widest opening which is usually f/2.8.
- Set the ISO to the highest setting you have (400 for simple point and shoot cameras).
Focus
- Focus is the next topic you will need to tackle, by using the handy dandy manual or the "hitting buttons until you find it" method.
- Find out how to turn off the auto-focus setting, and then manually focus the camera on infinity or the farthest away that the camera will focus.
- With a simple digital point and shoot camera, this might mean using the little icon with a mountain on it.
- For the DSLR camera, sometime during the daylight hours, focus your camera on something really far away, and then turn the auto-focus off.
- If your DSLR camera has a manually adjustable lens, you will focus it on infinity and tape it down. Experiment with this in the daytime, do not just trust the settings.
- Try shooting something very far away to be sure the setting works.
White Balance
- The next topic to master is white balance settings. This is a way to compensate for light-polluted red skies by using auto white balance.
- Most cameras will be set to auto white balance by default. These default settings usually give poor night time results. This is particularly an issue if you are shooting anywhere that has light pollution. It makes the sky a brown/red color.
- Some cameras have a way for the user to select the white balance. ( check out the manual or hit buttons).
- Whichever way, you want to set the white balance to Tungsten when using long exposures when photographing the night sky. This will give a nicer sky background
- There are some high-end cameras let you use a custom white balance. If so, try adjusting the blue/amber and magenta/green balance.
Now you need to find the best DSLR astrophotography camera for your quest to shoot the stars. We have compiled a list of the best of the best!
2009 Mercedes Slr Mclaren Roadster Spotted in Canary Island
It was in the year 1999 when Mercedes-Benz has presented its “Vision SLR” superscar concepts. One is a convertible while the other had a roof. The Vision SLR coupe eventually was developed and became the insanely fast and highly priced SLR McLaren coupe which was built in partnership with McLaren Cars. Now after four years into its product cycle, Mercedes-Benz and McLaren are planning of giving their SLR coupe a droptop playmate which will be called the SLR McLaren roadster.
Spotted in the Canary Islands on a photo shoot reveals the SLR McLaren roadster prototype that will spawn one of only a handful of droptops that would break the 200 mph barrier and would become hopefully as one of the fastest open-topped automobile ever sold in this country by a major manufacturer when it reached our shores next year as a 2009 model. The SLR roadster appears pretty much identical to the current SLR McLaren coupe in terms of its long-nose proportions and front-and-rear styling.
The SLR McLaren roadster is equipped with a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and carbob-fiber body panels, similar to the hardtop. A fabric top instead of a folding hardtop will be fitted on the SLR coupe to cut cost. The SLR McLaren roadster will also be equipped with quality Mercedes components starting from big components down to the smallest Mercedes wheel bearing. Mercedes bearings are important in keeping vehicle always on track.
The SLR McLaren coupe has scissors-fly doors however it is not yet clear whether the roadster will employ the same type of door. Sportscar enthusiasts are hoping that the roadster will also sport some cool doors since its sibling coupe has such hip butterfly doors.
The SLR McLaren roadster is design to provide utmost performance and power courtesy of a 617-hp, 5.4 liter supercharged V8 with 575 pound-feet of torque. The same potent engine will power the SLR hardtop and enables it to sprint to60 mph in just a matter of 3.6 seconds and reach top speed at 207 mph when given enough asphalt to drive on. However it would be more thrilling if the roadster is to be offered in an intensified 641 hp “722” guise like the coupe. This is actually more fitting especially since the original No. 722, which is a 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR racer was also a roadster.
The 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR racer was driven by Stirling Moss who drove the roadster to victory in the Mille Miglia for three consecutive years. The price of the most awaited SLR Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren roadster will likely be 10 percent higher than the $455,750 cost of the SLR coupe.

How does an auto flash on a Vivitar V3800N affect the pictures taken in b&w?
I'm obviously a beginner, and I was wondering if getting an "auto flash" kit with a vivitar V3800n slr 35mm manual with a 28-70mm lens would be useful with b&w.
let me know, thanks!
Buy a Vivitar 283 or 285 flash with the off-camera remote sensor and the bracket designed for it. You'll have plenty of control - 4 auto settings + manual. Check at keh.com or bhphotovideo.com or adorama.com or eBay.
I'm still using a 283 I bought new in Feb. of 1976. Yes, a 32 yr. old flash still going strong. In fact, I used it last Nov. with my 30 yr. old Minolta XG-9 to photograph my daughter's 30th. birthday party.
