How can I install Ubuntu Studio form a USB flash drive?
My computer doesn't burn anything. But I want to install Ubuntu Studio on my computer. Is there a way to put the image file on a flash drive and boot to it so I can install Ubuntu Studio? Currently I have XP.
you can use all the software available with ubuntu studio on a normal ubuntu
ubuntu studio does put it all in one place for you but it is certainly less stable than ubuntu (I've had it twice and both times I had to remove it; no choice)
You can do it if you want to but I wouldn't suggest it. If it is a netbook then you may lack resources to get the most out of Ubuntu Studio.
You can use unetbootin but you use your own image (ubuntustudio.iso) instead of one from the drop-down list. You then have the choice with unetbootin to install to usb or to a local drive (windows) and run from there (sorry but you need to read up on that option as i haven't used it). I think the ubuntu studip is 2.2 or 2.4 gig so you need a 3gb usb thumb drive at least.
unetbootin is available for linux and windows so that is fine:-
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
then there is wubi which, if you allow extra space for new software, would be great because you get to keep xp and un-install when you want to. just allow 10 instead of 5 gb.
Finally, the easiest solution, ask a friend to burn it for you. Or buy that external dvd rw drive you always wanted
