which is the best 'photostitching' software ?

I want to create wide angle interior shots covering between about 100 degrees and 180 degrees and was wondering which is the best software for joining several vertical (portrait) orientated shots together to make a high res. panoramic shot ?
I know several image editing programs can do this with horizontal (landscape) shots but I'm not sure about shots taken with the camera turned through 90degrees.
I can probably get my hands on a copy of Photoshop CS3 (if this is good for this)

I have Photoshop Elements 3.0, which is about as far away from CS3 as you can get and it does a good job of stitching pics together. Buying CS3 just for this purpose would be like buying a Porsche just so that you could go down to the corner convience store. You could do this and so much more, if your computer could handle it.
