My cd player says error when I go to play any cd, but everything else works perfectly fine. How do I fix it?

How much would it cost to get it fixed and what would I need to buy?

(I'm assuming this is a car stereo we are talking about.)

The only thing that would be worth trying at this point is a CD lens cleaner. Perhaps the lens is dusty or dirty and needs cleaning. If that doesn't fix it, then it's not worth taking somewhere to repair (unless you're willing to spend $100-$200).

Replacement stereos are a lot cheaper these days and usually aren't that difficult to install. If you want to save a little $$ and do it yourself, Crutchfield ( http://www.crutchfield.com ) is a great place to buy them from. They will send you instructions along with any cables/adapters you need to make the install easier. If you have a factory stereo and want to replace it with a factory stereo, you should try local "pick-a-part" type junk yards or eBay.
