What are the advantages of a full frame sensor?
I am having difficulty understanding this except!! That the image may be cropped. But wouldn't you just zoom out or in to get the desired image and prevent it from being cropped anyway?
What are the advantages over an APS-C sensor and is it worth buying a camera equipped with a full frame sensor?
If you use a wide angle lens on a full frame camera, say a 28mm, you get the full angle of view, if you use a 28mm lens on a cropped sensor camera you get a reduced angle of view, more likewhat you would expect from a 45mm lens.
This isn't great for landscape photographers or architectural photographers who want wider angles of view. It is a boon for sports and nature photographers who get more 'reach' out of their lenses in effect.
On full frame cameras pixels tend to be bigger, so less problems with aperture limited diffraction and less problems with noise at high ISOs.
Most APS-C cameras are excellent these days, but full frame still have the edge in absolute quality terms.
