Is a Kodak EasyShare CX7330 Zoom Digital Camera considered a SLR (single lens reflex) or a point and shoot?

I'm taking a digital photography class and was told I need a SLR digital camera. I'm pretty much a beginner and don't want to appear too stupid by having to ask the instructor if my camera is ok -first impressions and all. I've even gone to the Kodak website and could not find the answer. And if you know what the answer is--please explain to this novice what SLR really means. Thanks if you can help!!!
OK...I read the Wikpedia thing...but as I said--I am a rank beginner---that stuff was Greek to me!
I got the manual to the camera out--and in additon to the settings (Close-up, Landscape, Sport, Night, Auto & Video) it has Wide Angle & Telephoto settings.
So it CAN'T be a point & shoot--so what is it?

Your camera, in spite of having many settings, is still considered to be a point and shoot. Point and shoots have auto-focus, auto-exposure, fixed lens (even if it is a zoom).

I think the point of requiring you to have a DSLR is that it has manual exposure controls.

You might ask your instructor if a point and shoot camera with manual exposure controls would be sufficient, as requiring a $500-2000 camera seems excessive to me.

Your Kodak camera does not have manual exposure controls. A Canon 590 IS is a point and shoot that has manual exposure controls and costs about $150.
