What do broadband connection speed numbers mean?
Our dsl plan is "1 Meg Zoom Net" blah blah (that's the name on our provider's (local telephone company) brochure). A free speed test told me my download speed was approx 500 kb/s (just under 512). Average download speed on a p2p program is normally max around 100ish Kbps. What do these mean? And maybe how long should it take to download a 10 megabyte file?
Also, would increasing my computer's memory improve said speed any? (my guess is no, but I'm not sure)
Most Internet Providers will provide download speeds slower than advertised because just like everyone else - they oversell and there is only so much bandwidth.
Your connection speeds are on the slow side - but it sure beats dial up!! 500 kilobytes per second - dial up is around 45 kb/s.
Adding more memory will not improve your connection speed but it will help the performance of your computer.
Researcher details next-era advances in use of scopes for cancer detection
Just as cameras and televisions have been reinvented in the last decade with improved optics, sharpness and brightness, so have the tiny imaging scopes that physicians use to peer into the body's nooks and crannies -- its organs and digestive system.
